Randy Starks is a defensive end with the Miami Dolphins. He was signed by the Dolphins in February 2008.
Prior to Miami, he spent four seasons with the Tennessee Titans who drafted him in the third round of the 2004 NFL Draft.
Starks is one of the best young defensive tackles in the league. He had a career year in 2009 where he started all 16 games, totaling 56 stops and seven sacks (tied for 2nd most on the team.)
Originally from Waldorf, Maryland, Starks played college football close to home at the University of Maryland so his parents could attend the games. They never missed a single game he played during his three years at Maryland, including road games, which they often drove to from their home in Waldorf. While at Maryland, he was a three-year letterman (2001-03), earned an All-American honorable mention, and was selected to the All-ACC First Team. His collegiate career totals include 201 tackles and 17.5 sacks.
The athleticism Starks displays on the football field has served him well, translating to success in other sports. He scored over 1,000 points and grabbed nearly 700 rebounds in his high school basketball career as well as being named Southern Maryland's Basketball Player of the Year by the Washington Post.
His father, Randolph, served more than 20 years in U.S. Army. Starks spent the first five years of his life growing up in Germany before moving to the east coast when his dad was re-deployed to Ft. Belvoir. As someone who enjoys working with kids, he has hosted football camps in his home community and would like to become and educator after his football career.
