“Phenomenal ability… the sleeper of the 2007 NFL Draft class.”
Defensive tackle Daniel Muir signed with the Indianapolis Colts prior to the start of the 2008 season. Previously, Muir spent time with the Green Bay Packers where he was part of the team that played in the 2008 NFC Championship Game against the New York Giants.
2009 was a big year for Muir. He accumulated 66 tackles (45 solo), falling only 6 tackles shy of the Colts' recrord for tackles by a defensive lineman - remarkable statistics considering he did not become a starter until week 7. In comparison, none of the three starting defensive tackles on the 2010 AFC Pro Bowl roster had more than 35 tackles during the season. The Colts were crowned AFC Champions and moved on to play the New Orleans Saints in Super Bowl XLIV where Muir started at defensive tackle.
Muir attended Kent State University where he was a four-year letterman, playing in a total of 46 games. He finished his career with 198 tackles, including 35 stops for loss, 14.5 sacks, three forced fumbles, two fumble recoveries and one interception. He is also a part of Kent State history. He ranks third on the school’s all-time sacks list and seventh in tackles for loss. His outstanding play earned him the team’s Most Outstanding Defensive Lineman award an incredible four times and was named to the All-Mid-American Conference first-team as a senior.
Muir is a native of Washington, D.C.
