Safety Chris Crocker re-signed with the Cincinnati Bengals on February 27, 2009, detailing a four-year contract worth $10 million with $3.5 million guaranteed. He was originally signed by the Bengals on October 30, 2008 after spending the first part of the 2008 season with the Miami Dolphins where he recorded nine tackles in six games. He was originally drafted by the Cleveland Browns in 2003 but was traded to the Falcons prior to the 2006 season. While in Atlanta, he played a total of 30 games and recorded 105 tackles.
Crocker can play safety or cornerback, depending upon the needs of the team. “He’s a very smart guy who can get it done at multiple defensive positions,” says agent Tony Paige. Along with versatility, Crocker provides stability and veteran leadership to the Bengals' secondary.
Crocker is originally from Chesapeake, Virginia and attended Marshall University.
