Chris Baker has all of the attributes of a top-tier defensive lineman. Equipped with the size (6'2", 326 pounds), quick hands, and impressive upper body strength, he makes beating the offensive line look easy. Not to be overlooked is his speed and instincts. Baker had an impressive showing at the NFL combine where he ran a 4.9 40-yard dash. "The very moment the ball is snapped, Chris is gone. He has a unique ability to comprehend the situation in a split second and that's a big reason why he's able to make the plays," says agent Tony Paige.

At Hampton, Baker emerged as a star on defense with the versatility to play both nose tackle and defensive end. He received first-team All-MEAC honors while tallying 62 tackles, 16.5 tackles for a loss and 8.5 sacks during senior year.

Coveted by many teams, Baker found a good fit in Denver where he will compete for a starting spot. He signed a free agent contract with the Broncos in April 2009.
